Kaohu Productions was originally founded in 2009 under the name KD Photography, when owner Kaohu Detwilerbegan receiving an overwhelming number of requests from classmates seeking unique and personalized senior portraits. What began as a simple creative outlet quickly evolved into a growing business as demand expanded beyond portrait work.

Over the next several years, the company gradually added new services, refining its craft and broadening its capabilities. In 2018, Kaohu Productions introduced its first full-service wedding production package—a comprehensive offering that included venue, catering, photography, videography, and entertainment. This milestone defined the company’s future vision: to provide clients with complete, stress-free solutions rooted in professionalism and creativity.

In 2019, Kaohu stepped away to pursue his law enforcement career, placing the company on hold. Then, in 2023, after relocating to Montana, a friend approached him for assistance in marketing a small business. That single request rekindled the spark. Recognizing the ongoing need for affordable, community-focused media support, Kaohu revived the company in March 2024.

Today, Kaohu Productions primarily focuses on digital marketing strategies, while still offering photography and videography services. Thanks to strong professional networks in both Montana and Hawaii, clients benefit from broad, organic marketing reach at little to no additional cost—one of the company’s most valuable assets.
